For several months, I worked with RWS Global Sports, contributing to the design and animation of interactive content for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

This content aimed to enhance fan engagement and participation during the events. The primary goal was to create dynamic animations to energise the stadium atmosphere and encourage audience interaction across various sports.

Design Overview

Given the extensive brand guidelines for the Olympic Games, I needed to ensure the illustration style for the interactive animations was fully aligned with the established visual identity. This included carefully considering the character design to maintain consistency with the overall branding. I helped create a visual experience that resonated with the spirit of the Games and effectively captured the audience’s attention.

Interactive Cams Overview

I developed a series of interactive animations designed to engage fans in the stadiums. These animations featured various activities—such as lifting weights, riding horses, and playing the accordion—activated by cameras that located fans in the crowd. I collaborated closely with the RWS team as they reviewed the animations in the stadiums extensively during the weeks leading up to the Games. This allowed us to optimise the scale and timing of each animation, ensuring they seamlessly matched the fans’ actions for an immersive and engaging experience.

Text Animations Overview

In addition to the interactive animations, I created text animations for the stadium screens designed to engage fans and encourage them to sing along. These animations included sport-specific content, such as the rotation text animation for gymnastics, which was displayed each time athletes transitioned to a new apparatus.
